Offering for your consideration this book "The Guitar Players: One Instrument and Its Masters in American Music" (1982) by James Sallis.
This excellent hard cover by James Sallis covers the musicians who "created" the guitar as a contemporary solo instrument, including Lonnie Johnson, the first virtuoso blues guitarist; Eddie Lang, the first great jazz guitarist; Charlie Christian, the founder of modern jazz guitar; Riley Puckett, the first great country-music guitarist; Hank Garland , who become an intergral part of the Nashville sound; Wes Montgomery, the great jazz innovator; Mike Bloomfield, who played heavy rock and also recreated the old acoustic blues.......good complete condition with some moisture discoloration on bottom of pages..I visited with the author back in the 80s..sharing our common interest in guitars and guitar music. Jim subsequently mailed this as a gift and inscribed it "To Steve - Jim Sallis" and included a letter (included). Would keep this forever but turns out we don't get forever...and none of us is on the 200 year plan so it's time to downsize and find it a loving new home.
